Busy Busy Bees!

It has been a few days since I have blogged and oh how I have missed it! Between school, mommy stuff and trying to be crafty, its been chaotic!

I have been trying some crafty projects with my little ones. We made some leaves that Im going to make a tiny banner with for their room. Bela just tried to eat the leaves...but I think she made a few marks on a couple of them. Oh and yes I let my kids run around in their diapers most of the day, well except for the past few days...it's been COLD!!!



Speaking of diapers...potty training hasn't been going very well with Lenny. I just don't think he is quite ready yet...but Bela sure is!

She totally cracks me up!

It is getting chilly here in Florida finally and I am in love with little baby girl sweaters!!! Big sister Alexa has one almost just like this...I am sensing a photo op...haha!


In exciting toddler news, Lenny got a big boy bed! Can't beat $40 on Craigslist. I have no idea why those stickers are where they are...but those will be gone soon. He still ended up in bed with mommy around midnight, but he did lay down and go to sleep with no problems. Naptime is up next...I'm a little scared I have to say...His new bed has inspired me to figure out what exactly I want to do with the decor in their room. I still don't know...i'm thinking some high shelves and maybe a pennant banner?

What's for Dinner Wednesday?

It is Wednesday right? Anywho, I don't really have any cute weekly thing I do so as I was thinking of what to do for dinner, I thought of this! Cooking is another one of my great loves and I figured this would be a great way to share it. So let's see if I can keep this up!

Tonight we are having Chicken Adaba, I have no idea why it is called that, my mom's family has been making it for a long time. This meal is great for everyone, even my pickiest friends love this dinner and it's EASY! The best part is that you don't have to babysit it, which is great if the kids aren't cooperating with your culinary efforts!

Chicken Adaba

1- 1 1/2 lbs of chicken (any kind, this is really good with chicken thighs, FYI)
3/4 cup of rice wine vinegar
3-4 tblsp. of soy sauce
3-4 cloves of garlic, chopped
4 cups of cooked rice

Start preparing your rice and then put everything else (chicken, vinegar, soy sauce and garlic) in a really big skillet. Bring to a simmer, cover and let everything get really happy while you are chasing the kids around the house, but don't forget about the chicken! Flip the chicken halfway through cooking.

There is no perfect time for how long it takes the chicken to be done, just make sure it's not pink, we don't want to poison people. If you want this done in a hurry, use thighs or tenderloins.

Now remove the chicken from the pan. By now your rice should be done. There will be some yummy sauciness left in the pan. Dump the rice in it and mix it all up! All done.

Serve with veggie, if you are like me you put your steamfresh veggie bag in the microwave right before you finished the rice ;)

It isn't easy to find fun sewing projects for boys other than applique projects, but boys or girls can have fun with this little drawstring bag that I found on Prudent Baby. And a side note on my fave site, make sure to check out her blog daily as she is posting her findings from the latest quilting and fabric shows which means LOTS of amazing fabric some of which is already available on Fabricworm.

Ok back to the backpack. It turned out adorable, I wanted it to be a bit more boyish so I made the straps out of the fabric by simply sewing 2 one yard, 1 1/2 inch strips with right sides facing and then turning right side out. The straps are a little long so he likes it tied on, I think it makes him feel like a super hero :) Fabric is Alexander Henry Teeny Tiny Zoo in brown. These would make a fun and easy christmas gift for any little relative you have, maybe stuff with a couple books :)

Halloween!

We had a really fun Halloween. We went to a friend's house and the kids had fun playing, making cookies and getting ready for trick or treating. Riverside-Avondale is always a fun place to trick or treat, such great people and it is so much fun browsing the beautiful neighborhoods, I love living here!

Our pumpkins turned out amazing! Those little templates that come with the carving kits really work!

We tried taking group shots...yeah doesn't work too well with 5 kids...these are the best of the lot of them...

Trick or treating is EXHAUSTING!Candy :) For me :)

My camera doesn't take very good pictures in the dark so I didn't get as many pics as I would have liked. Leonard ended up staying at the house with Jeremiah and his best friend handing out candy which he apparently had a blast doing. Hope everyone else had a wonderful Halloween and a good time with family and friends!

I heart fabric :)

Fabric obsession comes with the territory with sewing and they were having a sale at Paula's Fabrics so I went today. I wanted to get a pattern so I would actually have a purpose behind the fabric and not just go nuts. Hubby still wasnt too happy when I got home, haha! I actually did pretty good!

Good Times...Good Times...

We had a really fun weekend. We went out to the airshow to see the Blue Angels which is always amazing. Leonard didn't have as much fun as we thought he would since he is OBSESSED with planes, the noise was a bit much for him. He was incredibly pleased with the awesome Blue Angels plane we got him. He has slept with it every night since :) My hubby got some great shots. Seeing those planes makes me feel very patriotic for some reason and very proud of all of our armed forces!


Monday was a good day too! We frequent the Y quite a bit and they had a Halloween party for the kids and they went trick or treating around the Y. They got to wear their costumes, which was good because I need to make a few alterations to Bela's. Bela is obviously Tinkerbell and Leonard is Ironman. Can't really get him to wear the mask but hey, he knows he Ironman.


I hope to get better pics of their costumes for Halloween, they were so not being cooperative.

Today was a fun day too (but no pics sorry). I finally managed to have a very dear old friend, Joy, over and two of her four adorable kids. The kids got along famously and we had a great time chatting and reconnecting. I think we have known each other since before we knew we knew each other (make sense), we hadn't seen each other in a long time but it was like we picked up where we left off :) I love friends like that. We took the kids to the park and it was ridiculously HOT! The poor kids were so sweaty and dirty after all that running and having fun!

And no post would be complete without my latest crafty ventures. I got crazy with Mod Podge and covered a crappy white binder with this FAB Anthology fabric :) I used Prudent Baby's makeup bag tutorial and modified it to make a fun pencil bag. I am totally in love with this red floral fabric. It is Amy Butler and I have literally used every last scrap! I need more!!!!Feel the fabric love...

Pretty Inside Too!

I have been having loads of fun with this little wallet tutorial my friend Christina did. I think we have similar taste in fabric (which is obviously good taste!).

I've made a couple more...it's been really good practice for me :)

I've been wanting to make some of these baby tights headbands but never remember to pick up the tights. I used this tutorial its super easy and a great alternative to the crochet style headbands because they are so soft and comfy. These will be added to my Etsy soon :)

Tinkerbell Costume

I have the main part of Bela's costume finished. All I have to do is put some elastic in the tutu part, but I thought I would go ahead and post some pics of the overlay part. I need to get better at taking pics of my stuff because it looks way cuter in person, at least to me :)

The back. I realized after taking these that I need to add another grommet because there is way too much space between the 2nd and 3rd. I don't mind :) Grommet attaching is FUN!

And it's really not crooked like it looks in this photo. My picture taking skills stink. But you get the idea. This was really easy so if you get a wild hair to make one as well, it takes no time at all.
